Widemouth Bay is a wide, sandy beach stretching nearly two miles, with rocky outcrops at either end. Perfect for surfing, bodyboarding, swimming, rock pooling, coastal walks and stunning sunsets, the beach is lifeguarded in summer and dog-free between 10 am and 6 pm.
Just five minutes from Bude, the bay has a beach shop, surf schools, cafés, bars, and restaurants. Blackrock Beach at the southern end features rock pools, diverse marine life, and the striking ‘Black Rock’ formation. Widemouth Bay is also one of Cornwall’s best surf schools locations, with consistent waves and several well-established schools.
Widemouth bay has been recognised with prestigious awards, including the Blue Flag and Seaside Award, celebrating its excellent water quality, safety, environmental care, and commitment to providing a high-standard visitor experience. Nearby, the independent Rebel Cinema, just three miles away, offers the latest releases in a relaxed, local setting.
Bude
Just a 3-mile drive along the stunning coastal route brings you to Bude, an award-winning town repeatedly named Best Coastal Town in the British Travel Awards. Enjoy its beautiful beaches — Crooklets, Summerleaze, and the iconic Bude Sea Pool — with plenty of nearby cafés, restaurants, and shops.
